Stranded

The Stranded Island
As we row our boat to the stranded island in the middle of the sea,clear blue water as the waves crash onto the bright yellow sand. Just as we park our boat the clouds start to surround the sun, We decide to stay on the stranded island for the night so we don't have to row our boat during the night as the waves go bigger. We walk around the small stranded island to see what we can make for a shelter to sleep under. There are lots of palm trees and twigs to make a perfect shelter for the night we bought enough water and food to survive the night we just need to make a bomb fire to keep warm. We all lay down under our perfect shelter and drift to sleep. As the sun starts to shine during the morning  we all get up and get ready to go,We get our leftover food and water put it in our boat and start to leave I ever wonder if anyone else goes to the stranded island it's a relaxing,quiet island to stay at I hope to come back.

setting description

Salty tears

Christina sits in a room that's pitch black only been able to see what her eyes adjusted too. Tinted windows surrounded her as she blinked out tears, she tasted her tears as they rolled down her cheeks. She could smell the sad scent of her candles as she lays on her bed being emotional. She could hear the sound of creaking doors as her family enter the house. Trying to sleep as she thinks about flashbacks she doesn't want to remember just because of  the way they scared her.

My character description

Typical Blonde
Stacey,I'm a teenager who likes trendy clothes for example,black ripped jeans with a black and white Adidas hoodie as well as my old skool Vans.

I am slim with straight creamy blonde hair ,I have emerald eyes with an average nose. I am a 16 year old  typical blonde, I enjoy shopping in my own time, I'll shop till I drop.

I'm a selfish,negative teenager who doesn't care about what I do or say. Most people at high school call me  stubborn but I don't care what they say.

I have had some few things happen to me over the past few years but people don't know, they don't understand. That's why I only have a couple of friends in my life who actually understand me.

I don't like talking because it hurts, one day I might wanna tell someone something about what I went through in the past years but I might tell the wrong person and they might say or do something I don't like, it takes a while to trust someone.

We need to stop littering and start recycling

Why? People litter everywhere in our country because they don't care about the environment and their animals and the impact that littering has is long term. NZ is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and we need to keep it that way.

We all need to stop (or reduce) our waste in our beautiful country and keep it clean and green.
In some parts of the world where there is no litter control or education about it, there are bags of stinking, rotting rubbish piled high.The smell is especially bad in the countries with hot climates such as South America. This can cause rats and diseases.

In Porirua city people have been littering and dumping their rubbish and waste is a form of environmental vandalism. It pollutes the environment (waterways, streets,parks and reserves.)

What if everyone dumped their rubbish at the river, beach, car parks, reserves?

If that happened, our country wouldn't be very beautiful anymore. It would be full of junk and our country would smell and look bad. We need to keep NZ beautiful. We need to stop littering and have pride in our country and treat our environment as we do our homes.

Recycling is a great way of reducing waste
We have recycling stations at the tip where these things can be dropped off or disposed of, there is no need or excuse  to dump something that could be of use to someone else.Someone’s trash could be someone else’s treasure.

In the last 20 years, waste disposal has become a serious problem. As human numbers grow, so does the amount of waste we produce. But it doesn't have to be that way. Many of the materials we throw away are still valuable, and can be reused or recycled in different ways.

Some plastic can be recycled. A type of plastic known as P.E.T. used to make drinks bottles, can be turned into more bottles, other packaging or even fleece jackets.

Maybe you could think about what you recycle at home or at school. And think about what rubbish you drop. Lots of trash is dropped around school - what could you do to respect our environment?

Report Writing

Mosquito
Mosquito life cycle
The mosquito goes through four s
eparate and distinct stages of its life cycle:Egg,larva,pupa and adult.Each of these stages can be easily recognized by its special appearance

Eggs;
Male mosquitoes feed on plant,nectar alone,while females extract the blood of host in order to develop the nourish eggs. Most mosquitoes lay their eggs directly into water. Others lay their eggs near bodies of water but not within them. Eggs will hatch into larvae within 24 to 48 hours.

Larva:
Larva lives in water and comes to the surface to breath. Larvae shed (molt) their skin four times,growing larger after each molt. Most larvae have siphon tubes for breathing and hang upside down from water surface.

Pupa;
The pupal stage is resting,non-feeding stage of development, but pupae are mobile,responding to the light changes and moving (tumble) with a flip of their tails towards the bottom or protective areas. This is the time mosquito changes  into an adult.

Adult;
The newly emerged adult rest on the surface on the surface of the water for a short time to allow itself to dry and all its body parts to harden. The wings have to spread out and dry properly before it can fly. Blood feeding and mating does not occur for a couple of days after adults emerge

River day

River day
Her heart stopped as the chill went up her spine. Her bones froze as she swam in the cold water.  She shivered as her heart pounded like an elephant walking. Her feet were sore from the hard pointy rocks that felt like something was stabbing her feet. She was too cold to swim so she thought it would be better to sunbathe on her warm towel with the sun beaming on her.
